Hello 2021 (Can I come in?)

You may think I’m weird, but I feel like I’m in an extended version of 2020… It’s like bingeing on Homeland on Netflix and wanting to stop watching but wishing it never ends and then when it finally ends, you are stuck in the false reality of the shitty ending?

That’s what 31st Jan 2020 was like for me – and I was only at Season 4. When it hit midnight, I was thinking is it really a new year? Is it going to get worst? Or stay the same?

What is possible about the new year?

Every year since 2017, I’ve been sharing on my blog – my List of Possibilities for the new year. You may call it by a different name – New Year Resolutions, or Goals etc.

I was struggling with writing out the list because it just didn’t feel right to me, to write about what’s possible when things are still uncertain. It could be a impossible list but I know anything is possible if we come from “anything is possible.” But still ….we all know what happened in 2020……..COVID-19 happened and is spilling over my 2021!

I started writing out my 2020 High moments, and ironically my high was IVF journey, not that we started a new cycle. On my 2020 list of possibilities was to begin again in KL. And that didn’t go down as expected, and that’s okay.

My IVF journey is indeed a blessing because it trained me well. It trained me to be okay with the waiting, to be okay with the inability to meet people, to go on holidays, to teach a yoga class; to manage the frustrations over not being to do what i want.

With the social distancing and mask-wearing, for the first time I was one up with the rest of the world, when i used to feel like I was left behind.

Something to celebrate yes?

And when I looked to 2021, and if every day there’s an opportunity to BEGIN AGAIN, I can re-create my list NEWLY, changing the words, so I have access to more self-loving in 2021.

In 2021, I’m saying YES to ME.

I’m saying YES to celebrating my Joys in 2020 instead of the Highs or the Wins.

I’m saying YES to Surrendering to whatever came up in 2020 instead listing my Lows.

I’m saying YES to a Self-Care Playlist instead of a list of possibliites

So here goes……..

“What you are is what you have been. What you will be is what you do now.”

— Buddha

In one way or another, all of us have been traumatised by the events of 2020 and honestly I can’t feel 2021 beginning, but it has and if we keep watching netflix or complaining or doing the same over and over again, nothing will change.

What happens next is up to YOU, NOW. If you come from you are ready now – what are you ready for?

I acknowledge that since the start 2021, I’ve been allowing things to happen to me. And that’s okay. And I know I have the courage to do what needs to be done at my own time. And when things get too much, I will give myself permission to let things be as it is and as it is not.

Yes we can’t control whats happening in the world but I’m ready to start healing my heart and body, moment by moment.

And in order for healing to begin, I’ve to start saying yes to ME.

I finally finished my New Year Resolution list of some sort, because I
don’t call it resolutions; I used to call it my Invented List of
Possibilities, and for 2021, I changed the name to My Self-Care Playlist
because I can.
But seriously I really struggled writing my plan for 2021, and changing the
words got me inspired to write about things that is focused on self-care
because that is what is sorely needed as we move towards another
COVID-filled year.Read More
