Home Hack: Dinner Party Ready

Last month my book club read Buy the F*cking Lillies which I probably wasn’t the target audience for (I feel like it’d be really great for someone just out of college or starting their very first job and feeling extreme overwhelm over having to suddenly be an adult with responsibilities), but despite the fact that I may not have been the target reader, I took a few gems from it. One of the little life lessons was he idea of trying to keep your home dinner party ready at all times. The author talks about picking up the home frequently, rather than waiting until it becomes overwhelming. It’s not groundbreaking stuff, but I am the person who, before moving in with my neat freak boyfriend, wait until it is a complete mess and then feel overwhelmed by it all.

She also talks about finding homes for everything and avoiding having little piles of stuff everywhere. That’s another thing I can be guilty of. Piles of unread mail, random papers, etc will just start to slowly cave in on me if I’m not careful. Not that people are stopping by my house randomly these days, since we’re still in the middle of a pandemic, but an overall cleaner home just keeps me feeling mentally at ease, and I thought I’d share that tip with you, too.
